Feature Artist of the Month – Mariana Saad –
Mariana Saad is a Guatemalan artist and graphic designer who works in both Miami and New York.
Saad’s design background serves as the foundation for exploring a range of materials, from digital to tactile.
Her body of work evokes feelings of displacement, nostalgia, and loss. By incorporating vintage photographs, she explores themes of mortality, transience, memory, and time. Saad celebrates her Guatemalan heritage through the use of embroidery, a traditional medium that conveys stories.
She revives lost memories through nostalgic portraits to bridge a new narrative through stitching. Saad invites the viewers to look more closely and reconstruct the lost narrative to transform it into a new one.
