Feature Artist of the Month – Juliana Torres –
Contemporary Brazilian artist Juliana Torres works across several mediums in photography, collage, assemblage, kinetic structures, ceramics, and fiber art
Her body of work reflects storytelling. inspired by her childhood. Torres's 2025 exhibition, "See-through from the Inside," was a photomontage installation beautifully executed by curator Angela Chaine at the Deering Estate, located in Miami, Florida. The site-specific installation, suspended on historic mango trees, evoked nostalgia and memory, emphasziaing on the interplay between urban expansion and historical preservation.
The weathered windows with dusty, imperfect glass serve as an analogy of the passage of time and historical disappearance. Which also ties into her Momento series. Torres asked the viewer to observe and connect their own ancestral memory through her layered compositions.
