Fact: No one likes to be caught up in a legal battle. As artists, we all want what is rightfully ours by right, but unfortunately, it has become increasingly difficult to call dibs on what we create. Art appropriation has been around for millennia, but you can Patent, Trademark, or Copyright a creation to prevent the widespread use of a great masterpiece. We’ve selected a few well-known legal platforms to get you started.

For those who are entering into a contract via gallery – remember to READ THE FINE PRINT/TERMS & AGREEMENTS. If you are like the rest of us, when reading legal jargon, take your contact to a lawyer or professional and have them explain it. There is no harm in spending a little extra time to have someone look over a contract that will prevent long-term damage or loss.
